Tipton City Council Minutes 10/6/25

 

CITY OF TIPTON – CITY COUNCIL MEETING – Oct. 6, 2025 

The regular meeting of the Tipton City Council was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday Oct. 6, 2025 at City Hall.  Those present were Mayor Jarrod Shivers, City Clerk Vanessa Tonne, City Superintendent Rod Barker and City Council members Michael Ohnsat, Jessica Krier, Mark Towner, Sara Dilley and Ben Avery.   Also present was Brigit Gasper.

Mayor Jarrod Shivers called the meeting to order.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. 

Minutes from the Sept. 3, 2025 meeting were reviewed and approved.

There were 7 late fees on utility bills and 1 letter sent.

The sales tax receipt for Sept. was $6,290.42.  Receipts for Sept. were $60,050.30 and disbursements totaled $72,539.58.

General ledger was reviewed with the bills and receipts.  Michael Ohnsat made the motion to pay the bills; Mark Towner seconded the motion.  Motion carried.

New grass has been planted around new concession stand building, and has been roped off to keep foot traffic off.  Rod reported that drinking fountains have been installed in the dance studio and work out rooms.  Also, electric heaters have been installed in the new bathrooms.   Rod will be taking down the handrails in the current dance studio on main street and will need some help installing them in the new building.

A Community breakfast was held on Sunday, September 28.  Mark Towner reported that the breakfast had a great turnout, the amount raised was not yet figured.  There are some individuals that are also willing to donate to this project. 

The damaged transformer at the ball field has been picked up and is being worked on.

Jessica Krier said that she pushed out the Dream Big 2.0 completion date to May, for the tennis/basketball court renovation in the city park. 

Discussion was held regards to rodent problems in certain parts of town.  Rats are being found dead on some yards and are not sure if they are coming from abandoned homes or from the harvest fields surrounding town.  Discussion was had also regards to the black vulture birds that are invading the water tower.  A citizen reported that one was found dead under their porch, and also they have been hanging around in their yard.  Ben commented that he could possibly talk to K-State personel to see what options are available to try to ward them off.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.  Next meeting date is Monday, Nov. 3 at 7:30 pm.
