|Tipton Woods Trail Dedicated November 20|
The new Tipton Woods Trail was dedicated on Saturday, November 21 after major progress was made the previous week with major dirt moving, clearing of debris, and building of trails and bridges. Spearheaded by Doug Palen from NCK Outdoors, Inc. and Nat Lopes of Hilride Progression Development Group, the trail has become a reality for biking and walking enthusiasts and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. Bob Jones of Jones Excavating and Dozing, Tim Hollerich of Oak Creek Building and Design and Joe Phillips of Treb Construction volunteered their time and materials to construct a kiosk and bridges in addition to the massive clearing of debris and dirt moving. Community professionals used their engineering and agricultural expertise to assist with the planning and design of the route and others including students from Tipton Catholic High School and Tipton Community School did manual clearing of trash and tree limbs, took down marking ribbon and moved unwanted debris from trails.
Come out and visit this wonderful addition to the community and area. Parking is located south of the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery on the south side of Tipton. A portion of the Tipton Woods project cost has been accounted for by volunteer community labor efforts and machinery service donations. Additional contributions have been received by financial donations from individuals, businesses, community organizations and the City of Tipton. Anyone wishing to make a monetary donation for the Tipton project can make it to NCK Outdoors Inc., a non-profit 501(c)(3). Checks can be made payable to NCK Outdoors Inc., and mailed c/o City of Tipton, PO Box 22, Tipton, KS 67485. Donations will go exclusively toward the Tipton project. The project is owned, maintained and managed by the City of Tipton. Contact Doug Palen at 785-545-8505 for more information.
Other future trail projects are planned for Beloit, Glen Elder State Park, and Osborne. Check out the Tipton Woods Trail Directory link on this website and the NCK Outdoors Facebook page for more information and pictures.
